Education for Tibet
Project 108 Schools in Tibet is the result of an international, non profit, grass roots venture of Tibetan exiles and westerners in Sweden and the U.S. to build, renovate, or otherwise support primary schools in the rural areas of Tibet. This project which is the result of years of negotiations, represents one of the very few times that a foreign organisation has been granted permission to build schools inside Tibet.
The majority of our funding was initially granted by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency ( SIDA ), especially in the first and largest project to date situated in the village of Katsel. However, as the mutual vision of the Swedish and U.S. organisations has grown we have tried to locate alternative sources of funding. More about our aim.
