Letters from children

A New Year letter to my dearest family.

First of all I would like to thank for all your support that leads me to a brighter future. I hope that everything is well with you . Right now I am studying at Nanjing in China together with seven other children from the Katselschool. Here everything is well with me and my studies proceed. I enjoy being in this school thanks to you who gave us this possibility. I have been here for three years and I will stay one more year. After one year we will go back to Lhasa and do a big test there and after that we might go back to China and study at collage. In our school there are only Tibetan children that come from all over Tibet . Some days ago they divided us in two groups and the seven of us from Katsel came in the best group and are going back to Tibet earlier than the others. I have written letters to you before but I haven´t got any reply but I am sure that everything is well with you. I get good food and clothes from the school so you don´t have to worry. We have had one week of winter vacation and now we wait for the traditional Tibetan new year. All the children will celebrate the new year with dancing, singing and having fun together. It has been snowing here once and it is rather cold now.

A letter of thanks to my dear sponsor

First of all I would like to thank you for your support that gave me strength and hope in my life here on earth. I hope that you are well as you should. I was born in a family who live under poor and simple conditions and that could not afford to send a child to a school where you can learn to read and write in your own language. But all of a sudden you came into my life and cared about me. It was you that gave me that fantastic opportunity to go to school that most other children do. You eased my pain and gave me hope.

I am very thankful and proud that you help me so that I can go to school. I will never forget this.
